Since I started coaching Product Managers (mostly Sr. PMs and first-time leaders) in January 2019, I compiled a long list of PM questions in Airtable. It’s become a valuable tool I now rely on when working with product managers in career transition. Whenever I stumble upon a new resource with a standard or quirky PM interview question, I usually add it to my list. Over time, I started categorizing the list to keep it more organized and included topics such as diversity and remote work on top of the usual themes.
Later, this live database came in handy during my hiring of Product Managers phase. Recently, I realized (with a suggestion from one of my clients) that the list might be valuable to other folks on either side of the equation. These questions now have a dual function – to help PMs prepare for interviews and support hiring managers during their interview process. And while there are hundreds of resources that pop up in search when I enter “PM Interview Questions” or “Ultimate PM Interview Questions,” I am hopeful this collection of 160+ questions will find its good use. Moreover, I would like to extend it even further as this is not an exhausting list. The hiring landscape changes rapidly, with remote and hybrid working environments becoming more common and consequences of the “great resignation” shifting priorities. Companies looking for top talent introduce new approaches while retiring the inadequate techniques. All of this, in turn, requires new questions to assess fit on both sides. I invite all of you to contribute to the list by adding new questions using this form and help turn this list into the most extensive database on PM questions with high-quality content. And if you have any feedback or suggestions on how to improve it further, please send them my way! I am open to collaboration as well.
